RSA Security Watch: The Enemy Is You!
Coop’s Corner at News.com has a great review of the RSA Conference’s first day, which pretty much seems to indicate that stupidity is fairly significant cause of computer security breaches.
Charles Cooper, the writer of Coop’s Corner, has quite a list of problems with internet security, which is increasingly an American problem. See his bullets on the various problems, as well as his take on comments by Symantec CEO John Thompson.
Thompson noted that bank accounts are for sale on “underground economy servers.” So I guess that means there’s a crooked eBay out there where stolen data is up for sale. Or maybe that’s just another tab on the real eBay.
One bullet quote I’m quoting verbatim right here:
- The education sector accounted for 24 percent of data breaches that could lead to identity theft.
This is an intriguing piece of information, especially since the highly publicized data breaches involve some bank employee whose laptop got stolen.
More on RSA as it gels . . . .
