Still More Soap-On-A-Rope: A Hot Time in the Old Hoosegow Tonight!
For some reason or other, white collar crooks are heading to federal-ass-pounding prison like investment bankers heading for the Hamptons. It’s uncanny mate–just feature the migration from recent days:
- Jack Abramoff: legendary republiscum bagman heads for the hoosegow, after henchmen fail to convince authorities that Jack will squeal louder and better on the outside. Instead, he’ll be squealing like a pig –rent Deliverance if you don’t get the reference–as shank-happy cons introduce him to Pin the Tail on the Honky. (Cue Simpsons HA HA laugh.)
- Stephen Richards: former CA salesmeister is sentenced to 7 years with Sanjay Kumar as a roomate. Terms of financial sanctions have not been released. (Kumar pulled a baker’s dozen in the klinc, plus an $8 million fine.) Don’t worry, the two will have so much to talk about.
Peter Taffeen & Stuart Wolff: former Homestore (now Move, Inc.) execs are the last of 16 charged with fraud involving distortion of online ad revenues. Wolf, the only one of the 16 who refused to cooperate with authorities, gets 15 years and a $5 million fine. Restitution is still on the table. Tafeen gets 30 months in the house and pays $240K restitution. Hope they both get to catch the new Let’s Go to Prison movie before they suit up.
- Eric Borrman: former McAfee financial officer gets charged with massive financial fraud from 1999-2000. News of Borr-boys fraudulent sales and accounting practices lopped a billion dollars off the firm’s market capitalization. He gets off easy–just has to pony up about $750K because, well, ya know.
- Edward Ehee: Bay area player’s bogus Viper Fund bites him right on the ass. Typical ponzi scammer–dude took untold investment money from greedy gullible fools who should be crammed into the same cell with him. No Soap-on-a-Rope yet; the fun’s just started with this one.
Perp walks, strip searches, beatins, and jaw locking sexual abuse–hey, plenty of people around here pay for that kind of action, and these guys are gettin it fer free. What a bargain!
